All ports facilities are lined up to optimse visiting ship's turaround. Every year, nearly 7000 ships are serviced at Dunkirk

PILOTAGE
Pilotage is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Vessels over 100 meters LOA and tankers or vessels carrying hazardous goods in bulk: compulsory pilotage from buoy E12 or Dyck. Vessels with LOAs from 50 to 100 meters at Eastern port: pilotage compulsory form the breakwaters. Vessels with LOAs from 70 to 100 meters at Western port: pilotage compulsory form the breakwaters. The pilots arrive by launch or by helicopter.

TOWAGE
6 tugs are available to assist the vessels in their ship handling (power from 2600 to 4400 HP).
Tugs are called by the pilot from the ship, after agreement with the ship's master.

SHIP REPAIR
Ship repair facilities are located at the Eastern port:
- Two quays dedicated to floating maintenance for ships up to 654 m length / draught 9.50 m. - One floating dry dock for ships up to 180 m length / 32.20 m beam / draught 7.00 m. - Two dry docks: - Dock nb 5 : for ships up to 107 m length / 15.50 m beam / maximum draught 6.20 m. - Dock nb 6 : ships up to 292 m length / 45 m beam / maximum draught 8.50 m.

- Freshwater: outlets at the edge of the quays. - Bunkers : by road tanker or by oil barge.

WASTE DISPOSAL
As recommanded by the MARPOL convention, the port of Dunkirk is equiped to collect all types of wastes (solids or liquids) issued of the ships' exploitation and bunkers.
Fixed skips allocated to solid wastes, with selective collect, are at the disposal of the ships (MARPOL points).
Liquid wastes are collected, by road tanker or barge, on demand to the shipping agent. These collect is made by certified companies.
